It doesn’t really matter which way you do it.
Soldering the resistor from black-blue to yellow-blue and you’ll have a fixed value which ensures the EGR is commanded closed all the time.
If you solder only using the blue...

That sounds like a plan… but I’d be careful using the car cigarette lighter for too much. It’s only rated at 10A. Even the EB70 pulls 8A to charge, so for a long period you might find you damage the fusible link on the bag of the lighter socket....

Just leave the butterflies in.
With an EGR delete cable, you will have very little build up in future. With a delete cable and catch can, you’ll never have to worry about it again.

Get a maintainable lead acid. The heaviest one you can find that fits. Put it on a 15V charger for 24 hours every 3-6 months to reverse sulfation.

Highway terrain are excellent for sand driving (unless there’s buried tree roots etc.). They bag out better, and float across the top rather than digging sand. But as OJ says, be careful airing down below about 15 psi with HT as you can separate them...

Directly forward from the 4wd selector knob, you’ll see four small slits in the lower dash (just below where the rear diff lock or heated seat switches would be).
Behind there is the cabin temperature sensor for the climate control....
