Looks like everyone already said everything I was going to say.
I was going to mention the dimple in the crank sprocket as Tom mentioned above. I'm not sure if that lines up with the mark you are using to line up crank, but just thought...

Good point Scooby. I'll check what the fan comes on at, but I think I set it at thermostat opening temp . A few degrees above that should give some room for a hard working engine, but much more and it gives room before it's all gone too far.

Some stainless is magnetic, could be an option. But steel would definitely do it. Powder coated might handle things better than painted

Interesting discussion. I hadn't analysed the system closely myself.
What is interesting though is that the top hose and radiator at the top will get warm after running for not long and right up to operating temp while the bottom is still...

Then I don't get an alarm, which is what I want. This is just to monitor/alert based on water temp going back to engine in case fan fuse blows or radiator isn't doing it's job. Thinking of another alarm based on head temp, but majority of overheating...

Awesome, thanks old Jack
You've summarised all the info I was looking for but couldn't figure out with a lot of searching. I'll try it at 100 and see how it goes on some hills.
Appreciate the help

6g74 operating temp?
Hi all. After overheating due to blown thermo fan fuse, I've decided to change the fan control to one with a built in alarm.

I always thought headlight washers was a useless overpriced BMW type car thing that they used to justify the crazy price tag, but didn't actually achieve anything of use

Thanks. Shame, for the price you paid with Bluetooth it was a bargain...

What battery is that you refer to with Bluetooth under $400?...

You can buy slim line lithium batteries for a lot less, then just add on a DC to DC charger that would charge it faster. You're paying a very high premium for them packaging it up in one unit and putting some connectors and a usb c charger on it....
