wiring all 4 reversing lights?

Hi, I know this is a classic question on how to activate all reverse lights at the back, however I could not find in this Electrical section, maybe it was in the previous forum. Could somebody please advise how it is done? I suppose a brief explanation is OK, a more detailed one would really be appreciated.

That'd be easier and definitely neater than trying to put an aux light.

Would running a wire on each side to activate the other lights be OK, i.e. there'll be 2 bulbs now on each side instead of one, running from the same wiring from front to back?

I'm unsure on the NP, but i did a similar thing to the brake lights on my NL.

I simply spliced into the brake line, ran a wire up to the fog lights and hooked into that (after terminating the fog light +ve wire).

Otherwise you can run a new line from the battery (to avoid possibly pulling too much current through the standard wiring) and use a relay setup.

Tail lights

Hi jm2004.
If you're talking about getting your main tail light assemblies working first you'll have to cut holes in the blanked off housings to fit lamp holders then wire from the appropriate circuit at the plug/socket already there. Fairly straightforward.

HUH??? I've just 'Googled' the NP and can't find any with two sets of reverse lights?

I think jm2004 is talking about activating the main taillights to get the tail, stop and turn signals working. That's the way I understood his post. Yes I know there's only one set of reversing lights - they are the only ones that work in the standard fitting.

I'm glad I'm only known under my member code in this forum. People are right, the "white" coloured rear lights on the bumper contain orange bulbs, they are the turn signal lights. I thought they were unused reversing lights (and that's after driving the same car for almost 4 years!)

I suppose I've been thinking where I can put an aux reversing light without the need to drill a hole on the door or reducing my departure angle, or part of the shine blocked by the spare wheel.

Mount it to, or recess it into the rear bumper. Done carefully, with the right light, it would look really neat.
