NP Did Diesel - Maverick Radio?

Problem is that - at random the radio in my Exceed begins searching of its own accord; often connecting to a station with the volume at '40' (which is bloody loud; very bloody loud!). During these little fits - the radio will not respond to any button pushes or control tweaks.

Also (and possibly related) the fuel gauge has become a random instrument rarely showing what is actually in the tank.

Any suggestions??
