    15,000km intervals.

The servicing costs vary depending on whether its a major or minor service, timing chain replacement etc. Generally speaking though the servicing costs are no different to any other diesel, however diesels are always going to be more expensive to service then petrols.

The only special thing is the NT Diesel's require low ash oil, which again is becoming the norm these days anyway.

Thanks for that! How often does the timing chain need changing in these? I am guessing that is not an inexpensive job.

about every 100,000k's and no it isn't cheap, but being a straight 4 rather then a V6 or anything it makes things a bit cheaper

The timing chain is not a maintenance item, there is no interval for it to be changed, it's meant to be life of engine. Don't confuse it with a belt that has to be done at around 100K. However like anything some things do wear and if it's identified as stretched or noisy then it should be replaced as very expensive if it breaks. I've got 150K up and no timing chain problems, plenty of others with well over 200K no problemsAnd while the service interval is 15K I'd be changing the oil every 7.5K

I spoke to Service Manager where I bought my diesel NT & he told me I must have this oil at $16 per litre. The service manager at my local dealer told me that is not correct it only applied to the NS. I contacted MMAL and their Technican told me it takes the same oil as the NP I had. I use Penrite

It shouldn't be needed for the manual as there is no DPF. No sure about the auto as it has a different DPF to the NS.

I'm using a DPF compatible oil in my auto NT. Don't know if it's required or not but can't hurt. Costs $200 per 20l drum so $10/l. Would be cheap in the 44gal drums I imagine but I can't move one of those around. It's probably also a better oil than the dealer is using so good mark up for them if they're saying $16/l

More likely that they are using pallet version not drums - which is even cheaper.
