    Hayes Creek NT

Just an hour and a half south of Darwin is a nice little spot at the Hayes Creek roadhouse, plenty of shady spots, great little pool and the creek with swimming holes is about 600m down a graded track. Great to use as a base to run out to Douglas Daly for fishing, hot springs. A little bit of highway noise during the day but ok at night, recommend it.

      Hayes Creek and Joe

We stopped in here on our way past just to use the toilets, but we ended up staying for an hour! The owner, Joe came out and gave my three boys Wizz Fizz, and started talking about his park, inviting us to go for a swim or go down the back and check it out.

There's a spot right down near the waterhole (no crocs) that wouldn't get any road noise, as long as you're self sufficient. It looked very relaxing.

We'll keep this place as an easy weekend away to meet up with friends from Katherine. Very friendly.
