Heavy duty clutch for a NJ

    Hi Guys,

I seem to have slightly overheated my clutch & now it's time for a new one. I figured I might try & upgrade to something a bit more heavy duty than a standard replacement. But that also depends on the price. Any suggestions?

It's for a 1997 Escape with the DOHC engine. Cheers

When I got my Clutch changed, I wanted a Heavy Duty one, and the mechanic said, that there is not a heavy duty one available.

Not sure if I would trust him 100% though.

it was a common thing years ago to go out and buy a heavy duty clutch and pressure plate but now things are slightly different. all i can sugest is phone a couple of clutch specialists and see what they say.

Stop recovering bogged vehicles and towing overladen then...

My thought on strengthening one part (the clutch) only is it usually show up weakness somewhere else...

...and then it's an endless cycle of stronger...

How did you know Jaydee? That's exactly what I was doing. Recovering some abandoned wrecks for the locals around Healesville. But I think the clutch was on it's way out anyway.

Anyone know the name of those clutches that come in the wooden boxes? i saw them at the last 4x4 show but can't remember the name of the manufacturer

Sunbury brakes and clutch are your best bet.

Give them a call to discuss the clutch. I think you will find that you don't have a dual mass flywheel on yours, which will make the job easier.

Well I thought it would be either heavy pulling or doing burn marks on the road.
