Hi All

Just wondering, does anyone else get bitumen stuck to the rear windscreen?

I've been cleaning the stuff off for a few years now and it always returns.
I don't know if it is environmental or the tyres I run but as soon as I clean it up it returns on the next trip.

Cheers.

Maybe it is just from the roadworks & hot days. But it like painting the harbour bridge, no sooner have you finished you have to start again.

I used to work in the road construction industry. If it's just little flecks on the window then you can just scrape them off with one of those razor blade scrapers (same as used for getting old rego stickers off). If it's on the paint then most oil based products will soften enough to get rid of it eg kero, baby oil - just give it a wash afterwards otherwise it can damage your paint. There's also some "tar remover" products which auto stores sell - again wash it thoroughly afterwards.

Kerosene dissolves/softens the tar component (WD40 is kerosene-based), & scrape off stubborn bits with a finger-nail or credit-card (or similar). :think1[1]:
