Smile Which Oil is Best?

Hi Again,

I know I've asked this before, but I thought I'd throw it out again, as many of you have now had the first or second oil changes.

Which oil is best to use in your new NT DID Pajero?

I asked the dealer and they use Castrol "Super" 15-40. Only because they have a deal with them, mind you. It is a good oil though. (So he tells me).

Do you think the "Magnatec" 15-40 is a better proposition?

What about Penrite? Or are they so similar it doesn't really matter? Are they all very good?

What oil have you used so far?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Cheers,
Sally

Ok a couple of things here, no such thing as Castrol super, Castrol use what they call their professional range for trade and comes in synthetic, semi Synthetic and mineral variants, and whilst penrite make good oils there research budget is much smaller than castrols.

Magnatec pro 5 w 40 b4 and magnatc pro 5w 40 are synthetic. magnatec pro 15 w 40 is semi synthetic and GTX pro 15 w 40 is mineral.

Whilst it does list the lower spec oils as suitable, prime recommendation with a dpf is the magnatec pro 5 w 40 b4. This has all been covered recently in another listing.

Would note also BP/Castrol make all the MM Oem oils and must make oil to exceed Mitsubishi specs.

below is Castrols TRADE listing for the NT

I'm confused!
Are you saying we should use Penrite?

I recently started using Valvoline Synpower 5w/40 when it was recommended by the local Mitsubishi dealer where I get services.

The cost over normal mineral oil is about $40 a fill and makes the Synpower around $500 + for every 100,ooo K's.

I'm no mechanic, but I do my own oil changes every 7500 K's and am willing to pay the extra if it's good for the engines longevity..

*Valvoline is a client, but my choice was based on dealer advice.

I use penrite HPR Diesel 5.

so far no issues.

I have the oil tested and it holds up to 15k service intervals with no issues.
60k service coming up and will have oil tested again.

My options were

CASTROL MAGNATEC PROFESSIONAL 5W-40 or CASTROL MAGNATEC PROFESSIONAL B4 5W-40

or
Penrite HPR diesel 5.

In the end it was penrite
Reason:: I can get it easy.

regards
Michael.

Hi Guys,

I use Castrol Edge 0 40 in the engine (synthetic) and Castrol synthetics in the drive line except the auto trans which is Mitsibishi factory fill. The service manager here told me the Mitsibishi NT auto trans fluid is synthetic.

Regards,
Garry.

RX Super is a truck style diesel engine oil and not recommended for the NT
