Hi Guys,
For some time now my NE 2.5 Turbo diesel has been blowing lots of black smoke when accelator is pushed hard, no smoke at idle. At first I thought it may have been stale fuel, faulty injectors but today whilst looking at the wastegate actuator, engine not running I noticed that I could not move the rod going to the wastegate either up or down and appeared to be jammed in the static position. A few questions:
1. should I be able to move the actuator rod up and down with the engine not running,
2. should I be able to see the rod move up or down when I push the accelerator to the floor with the engine running,
3. what would I expect to e max revs, mine is 3200rpm,
4. would the lack of operation of the wastegate actuator cause the engine to blow black smoke,
5. any suggestion how I can fix the problem?
Thanks in advance.
