Default Car transporting (trucking)

Wondering if anyone can reccommend any companies that will truck your car interstate?

Am looking to have mine sent Melbourne-Karratha (I don't have the time to drive unfortunately) sometime in the near future.
If anyone has some ballpark figures east-west coast too if you have done something similar, that would be handy.

What would also be really good is if the trucking company allows a few things in the boot- most seem not to.

Cheers.

Hi mate, I just had mine trucked from Sydney to Alice Springs by auto trans. I did not pay for it myself (new employer did as part of package) but I am led to believe it was between $3,000 and $4,000.

Probably not what you wanted to hear eh?

Road is a lot more expensive than rail. Get as close as you can with rail and drive the rest to save some dollars?

Have thought about the train to Perth, but I'll be in Karratha on Thursday for at least 3 months, and unsure of whether I'd get the time off to get down to perth to drive the car up.

Unless there is a transporting company in Perth that will get the car off the train and onto the truck.....

I've been getting quotes of around the $2000+ mark, but was wondering if there was a company that really did good deals....

Thx for the PM Taxi, might call the number tomorrow...

Just thought I would post an update..........

I used Patrick Autocare to transport the car. A shade over2 grand and 1 BLOODY MONTH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Firstly, the car arrived fine no damage etc so absolutely no complaints there.

However, it was just a sh*tfight trying to track the vehicle and find out what was going on.

Paj arrived in Adelaide and the tracking info reflected this. 9 days later it was still saying "ready for transport." Phone calls made, operator told me what I could already see and when I highlighted to them that it had been sitting there for 9 days they said 'thats unusual. I will make some calls and find out".
Later on a call came back saying it had actually been despatched to Perth 2 days earlier (than my call). Tracking information on website only updated after this.
A week after it had been despatched from Adelaide the website still said it was on its way to Perth.... so more phone calls and the operator made more phone calls and Paj was already sitting in the yard... website only updated again after the phone calls.
Several days later it hadn't moved from Perth. Call up to see when the planned transport date is to try plan the pickup as i go away for a few days once in a while and told it was to go on Fri 19th. Mon 23 i check the website and it was still sitting in Perth.
And Perth had that massive storm and hail etc. Fortunately the yard didn't cop any so Paj was fine (phew!).
Car finally despatched on the Wednesday. Had been told that I would be notified when it was sent- and I was not. For once they actually updated the tracking site before my calls, and it happened to be the day after being sent and a day before arriving.

Service on the phone was mostly quite good, i spoke to a few very nice operators that really helped out and made more calls or wandered across to the yard etc.
As i said earlier Paj arrived as it was sent so no complaints there.

Just that friggin tracking and the real annoyance it gave me. Having to call up just about every week to see what was going on defeated the purpose of having the internet tracking system! Annoying to the point that I don't particularly plan using them again.... I'd happily pay a few hundred dollars more just to have the timely information.

For all I know Paj could have fallen off the truck/train in the middle of nowhere!!
But it didn't and i've got it my baby now

P.S the website still says the vehicle has been despatched here- so according to them I havn't picked it up yet!
