    CV Boot Replacement

    Cheers All,

Just noticed that the inner boot on the passenger side cv joint has torn
What are my options for repair?

At the moment I am hoping to replace just the boots. Are these difficult to replace?

My Paj is a NL model with 205,000km. All the joints seem to be in good nick, no funny noises on full lock.

Advice from the forum would be appreciated

    TIA

It depends how mechanical/ how much time u have to waste on fixing stuff.

Mine split shortly after lifting the car about 60k ago. I just put some glue on it to seal it up, and it lasted 50k before it split again. Then I just cleaned it up and glued it again, been on for another 10k and still all sealed.

My car probably goes on the beach every second week, and the cv joint is still going fine, so the glue does seal it enough.

        Hope this helps
        Shane

PS. Not sure what kinda glue it was, just what eva silicon sealant stuff we had in the dispensor at the time.

          boot

I had a new boot fitted on mine about a year ago it cost me $160 to have it done. I didnt have the gear to do the job otherwise I would have done it myself. You need to have joint splitters to release the ball joints. I was quoted $320 for each shaft new. Seeya Neilo

I got a reconditioned shaft for $135, so I just replaced the whole shaft when I had a split CV boot Easier and saves a bit of mucking around.

Mind if I ask where on ebay you got them from?
At the moment i've repaired split with rtv silicone. Seems to be holding, but eventually I may have to go down the replacement road.
Also, thanks to those who posted advice

Are you able to comment ont he quality, I've looked at those a couple of times, but becaue they r so cheap thought they have got to be weaker than factory.

Have you used the 4wd function at all since installing them?
