Help with buying my first 4wd

Hi, Can anyone give me a few pointers on buying a pajero 4wd..
I have never owned a 4wd and dont know where to start, but it seems that the pajeros are good value for money.
looking at like a 92 to 94 model, got around 7000 to spend
I'll start with what I think i need..
got to be 7 seat, probably turbo diesel,manual,
main use will be highway/beach use.

I've looked in carsales and have found a few around that kind of money with kms varying from 250000 to 380000.
Are those kms too high for a diesel?
Should I look at a petrol motor?
What kind of problems should i look for?
Any tell tale signs of things about to break?
any other useful advice would be greatly appreciated...

yeah turbo diesels are the go , as i have one and cannot fault it , its an mmc (jap import ) low kms 88 model with all the bells and whistles my dad has a 90 model mmc with only 64000km's mine is the 2.5 TD ive also owned an 84 mmc 2.3 TD and it was great now id say the 92 models would be pretty good though try to find one with low km's my email is [email protected] my name is robbi feel free to email me , i can help you find a good one
