    Fuel Line Water capture device

    Hi

I was talking to a fitter at work he mentioned some fuel line inline device that acts like a bowl to capture water in fuel. After recent and ongoing experience thought I'd look into it.

Anyone use one or know what the device is?

    Thanks

      Here´s mine:

In Chile the dealer fits them before delivery because of diesel quality. You can see they make a by pass to the fuel line before going into the filter to fit the "pre-filter" that traps particles and water (left on the engine the filter, to the right behind the air filter box you can see the fuel pre-filter) The element is changed every 10.000 kms and it has a valve to drain the water.

Patagonia's setup would be the only way possible an I imagine that would be tight

Question - 2014 nw & drained the fuel from the filter to check if any water or impurities.. what a dredfull process... with the second battery it was impossible to open the filter drain.. I had to unbolt the filter to open the wing nut which changes orientation for the drain... Also found the primer pump to be ordinary.. what do other feel about this... I do want to install a water trap... have had a bad experience out west in the previous car... so it happens.

I installed the Donaldson P903316 kit in mine, less than $120.00 and comes with a spare filter. Filters down to 3 Microns and I have it installed as a pre-filter before the factory one.

2012 NW Activ with all the fruit, stripped what I could for my new build and handed over to the Mrs as a daily driver.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but how exactly do you use the bowl on the secondary filter kit? Can you actually see water mixed in with diesel? When I installed mine, the bowl simply filled up with diesel when I topped up the filter. Thanks

Water doesnt mix with diesel it will replace it in the bowl and you will see a line where the two meet ,or a colour change if the entire bowl fills which can happen but is rare unless you get a big dose of water in your fuel...
